the mental representation of maternity that exists in Mexico usually revolves around the idea of a
woman that is dedicated with devotion to her children; furthermore, history shows that this is not always the case. e contemporary
woman has integrated other activities to her life such as education and paid work, placing maternity in a different place. e present investigation utilizes a quantitative methodology for which a validated questionnaire was designed through alfa of Cronbach, which looked to identify the social representations of the maternity (beliefs, myths, imaginaries, the exercise of maternity) of academic women of the Autonomous University of Zacatecas (UAZ). e results of the investigation report that women-mothers of the university enjoy being with their children, organize their time and daily activities, changing the idea that mothers are totally good, in real women, breaking away from the rooted myths of the Mexican
woman, of total devotion to her children. …”
